The Hartford’s P&C Q4 UW gain up more than fourfold to $243mn despite $194mn A&E charge

The Hartford’s fourth quarter P&C underwriting gain was up by more than fourfold to $243mn, driven by cat losses that fell by 40 percent to $81mn and 9 percent growth in net earned premiums to $3.84bn, which more than offset an increase in its core loss ratio.
