Progressive close to exhausting retention on cat agg treaty as Q2 cats bite

Progressive said it is close to exhausting the retention on its aggregate reinsurance program after the company took a heavy $1.02bn hit from catastrophe losses in Q2 2023, almost double what the business faced in the prior year period.
