London’s leading property underwriters revealed…

Tokio Marine Kiln has retained its position at the top of the property bench strength rankings for the fourth consecutive year in the London’s Leading Underwriters survey, with Talbot’s Ollie Richards once again clinching the top individual spot for the class.

The peer nomination-based survey was conducted by Insurindex – a joint venture between insurance research consultancy Gracechurch and Brandex – between March 2023 and May 2024.

In property, new entrant Beazley placed as runner-up in the bench strength poll, ahead of last year’s runner-up Talbot.

Faraday moved up two places to fourth position, while Dale Underwriting, Convex and Probitas (all new entrants) tied for fifth spot alongside re-entrant Hiscox.

Richards, head of international property at Talbot, topped the individual London property underwriter ranking for a second consecutive year.

He was followed by Beazley open market property underwriter Henry O’Kill in second, ahead of Robbie Hubbard of Probitas and John Eggleston of Chaucer, who took third and fourth position respectively.

The top five was rounded off by Nick West of Faraday, last year’s runner-up and the top property underwriter in the 2022 survey.

Bench strength leader Tokio Marine Kiln did not have any individual underwriters in the top five shortlist.
