Lloyd’s Art Group opens 2024 winter exhibition
The Lloyd’s Art Group’s annual exhibition opens in the Old Library at 9.00 am this morning and will continue until Thursday, showcasing more than 250 pieces of art.
The group, founded in 1963, comprises professional and amateur artists who work in the London insurance market, or have an immediate connection with it.
Everything displayed at the event is for sale. Run by volunteers, the non-profit organisation donates 20 percent of all sales to Emmaus, a charity that works to support people experiencing homelessness in London.
Events during the week include a private view on Tuesday for invited guests. Tuesday will also see artists and friends of the group sketch the Walkie-Talkie building following an invite by Ascot.
The Aon Prize will recognise the two best pieces in the exhibition, as chosen by a panel of Aon employees. The winner will receive £500 and £200 for second place, with the winners to be announced at Tuesday’s private view.
In addition, a £500 Developing Artist Award – sponsored and chosen by Brian King, a market participant for more than 50 years – will also be announced at the private view.
Visitors to the exhibition, both in person at Lloyd’s and online, are invited to vote for their favourite artwork for the People’s Choice Award, sponsored by Liberty Specialty Markets. Voting takes place at Lloydsartgroup.co.uk and the winning artist will also receive £400. One randomly chosen voter will also win a bottle of champagne.
