Miller bolsters reinsurance practice with Price Forbes Re duo

Miller has expanded its reinsurance practice with the hire of Price Forbes Re’s Steven Rance and Charlotte Lowe.

Rance, who led Price Forbes Re’s specialty division, will become Miller’s head of reinsurance strategy and innovation, while Lowe will join as an account handler.

In his new role, Rance will shape the strategy of Miller’s rapidly growing reinsurance offering.

Prior to Price Forbes Re, Rance spent six years as a managing partner at Gallagher Re. He joined the firm – then known as Capsicum Re – in 2017 to establish and lead its global mortgage risk reinsurance division.

Shaun Sinniah, head of reinsurance and capital at Miller, said: “In his newly created role, Steven will be at the forefront of this growth, where his deep market expertise and impressive record of innovation will prove invaluable.”

Lowe has spent the past year as a broker at Price Forbes Re, following a four-year stint at Gallagher Re. She has also held roles at law firms Stephenson Harwood LLP and Charles Russell Speechlys.

The moves continue Miller’s recent reinsurance expansion.

In September 2023, Miller established a new treaty reinsurance team in Asia Pacific, led by Richard Broad. This was followed by the hires of Ollie Spells as head of London property facultative, Will Morgan as head of energy and fac, Chris Board as a member of the reinsurance team, and Sinniah as head of reinsurance and capital.
