WR Berkley’s Nautilus promotes COO and CUO to EVP

WR Berkley E&S and specialty lines insurer Nautilus Insurance Group has made a pair of promotions with both Trish Buckhardt and Tom Joyce appointed executive vice president.

Buckhardt has been promoted from senior vice president and will retain her existing responsibilities as chief operating officer and chief information officer. The promotion comes four years after Buckhardt first joined the company from Nationwide E&S, a period in which she has led the implementation of several large-scale business transformation initiatives, Nautilus said.

Like Buckhardt, Joyce has also been promoted from senior vice president. He too will retain his existing responsibilities as chief underwriting officer for the business.

Joyce joined Nautilus in 2015 as SVP of the firm’s claims division before taking on the CUO role in 2018. Before joining Nautilus, Joyce had previously been a claims leader at a Fortune 100 insurance carrier.

“These two leaders are taking Nautilus to the next level,” said Tom Kuzma, Nautilus’ president and CEO.
