TransRe’s $372mn of cat losses push Alleghany to $200mn underwriting loss
Alleghany has reported an underwriting loss of $200mn in the third quarter, compared with an underwriting loss of $81mn in the prior year period, with CEO Weston Hicks calling for further reinsurance price increases after TransRe suffered $372mn of cat losses in the quarter.
