Program specialist Incline adds former Texas insurance commissioner to board

Program insurance market services firm Incline Insurance Group has added former Texas insurance commissioner Kent Sullivan to its board of directors.

Sullivan, who stepped down as Texas insurance commissioner in September after three years as head of the state’s department of insurance, joined Incline’s board on 1 December.

He was credited with leading the department’s modernisation strategy and organisational restructuring efforts.

Sullivan created advanced and expedited processes in complaint resolution and agent licensing, said Incline in a statement. He held various judicial roles and was a partner at Texas law firm Jackson Walker before being nominated as Texas insurance commissioner in 2017.

Earlier this year, the company also added Patrick Brockett, Gus Wortham chair in risk management and insurance at the University of Texas, to its board of directors.

The academic directs the actuarial science program at the university.

Incline said the addition of the new board members will help it deliver on its aim to provide the most effective and proficient environment for its partners by actively managing insurance programs with a diligent focus on underwriting, claims and enterprise risk.

Commenting on the board appointments, Incline co-founding president and CEO Chris McClellan said: “Their industry experience and knowledge will further bolster our company’s ability to deliver elevated insurance services and expertise to our clients.”

As this publication revealed last year, Incline was launched by McClellan along with Mike Toole and Tony Urban to build out a US program carrier platform.

At the start of 2020 it secured an A- rating for then recently acquired California subsidiary having also acquired Texas-based Worth Casualty Company.
