Lloyd’s Art Group launches Autumn Exhibition
The Lloyd’s Art Group – a collective of fine artists, both professional and talented amateurs, who work or associated with the Lloyd’s and London market – has launched its Autumn Exhibition, with a percentage of sales going to charity.
Founded in 1963, the Lloyd’s Art Group have held an autumn exhibition and sale of fine art in the Lloyd’s building each year since. In 2020, because of Covid-19, the event is being held solely online.
Now in its 56th year, the exhibition features over 240 pieces of original artwork by 65 professional and talented amateur artists who work at Lloyd’s of London, in the London insurance market or have close ties.
All artwork is for sale with prices ranging from £50 to £6000 with 20 percent of the proceeds plus a matching donation going to the London charity Street Souls which offers shelter, work, friendship and advice to London’s homeless.
Street Souls is part of Lloyd’s recognised charity, the Coombe Trust which was founded in 1957 by Lloyd’s broker Don Coombe MBE.
Street Souls provide hot food, sleeping bags and advice to the homeless – and run the Artful Pelican gallery in South East London, offering studio space, friendship, materials and opportunities to homeless artists, helping them back to independence.
The Autumn Exhibition online gallery is now open for browsing here. The sales desk will open on Monday 30th November.
Lloyd’s Art Group is proudly sponsored by Aon and supported by various City companies and generous individuals, including the Friends of Lloyd’s Art Group.
On Friday 4 December the winner of the £500 Aon prize, £500 Brian King Award and £100 public vote will be announced – public voting opens Monday 30th November.
