Great American names DeSoto specialty E&S divisional president

Great American Insurance Group has promoted Brian DeSoto to divisional president for its specialty excess and surplus (E&S) lines business.

DeSoto first joined Cincinnati, Ohio-based Great American in 2008, initially within the company’s corporate claims division. Two years later, DeSoto joined Great American’s specialty E&S business - which has since been rebranded to Great American Risk Solutions – to oversee the platform’s claims operations.

In 2014, DeSoto was appointed divisional senior vice president, a role that gave him oversight for Great American Risk Solutions’ underwriting, operations and accounting, as well as various other divisional functions.

But the executive has now been promoted to divisional president for Great American Risk Solutions, the company’s business unit that provides non-admitted property and casualty products to the wholesale brokerage market.

Great American Risk Solutions offers products in the product liability, construction, healthcare, risk management underwriting, product recall, binding authority and property segments.
