Natural catastrophes cost private insurers and government-sponsored insurance programmes $97bn in 2020, up 26 percent on the previous year, as the impact of climate change and a rise in global wealth pushed losses higher, broker Aon said in its global Weather, Climate & Catastrophe Insight report.
