Citizens initial $3.8bn loss estimate not expected to be major private reinsurance loss

Citizens has made an initial, preliminary estimate of at least 225,000 Hurricane Ian claims that would equate to a $3.8bn loss, but at that level the impact would be largely absorbed by its surplus and coverage from the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund (FHCF), The Insurer understands.
