Allstate to scale up cat cover after highlighting reinsurance role in its Q1 results

Allstate is in the process of placing a layer to fill a circa $400mn gap in its 2021-22 nationwide cat programme, which is being upsized to provide coverage for up to $5.76bn of loss less a $500mn retention, compared to the expiring $4.984bn tower that also included a $500mn retention.
