Ryan Mather

Global Head of Reinsurance, Ariel Re

Ryan Mather, Global Head of Reinsurance, was a founding member of Ariel Re in 2005 and progressed to be Group Chief Underwriter and CEO in 2016 before the acquisition by Argo Group in 2017. Ryan has served for more than 25 years in the industry. He began his career as an underwriting assistant in Lloyd’s before working as a Lloyd’s corporate capital analyst for a U.S.-based reinsurer. Ryan worked for Gerling Global Re, where he was latterly manager of the property account and was also responsible for all Lloyd’s business assumed within the group. He moved to Bermuda with Rosemont Re in 2002 before joining Ariel. He is a Genetics graduate of the University of London and holds the ACII designation.
