AM Best: investment income helps offset weather-driven UW loss for mutuals in 2023
In 2023 many US property casualty mutuals benefited from improved investment returns that offset weather-related impacts that drove the sector’s underwriting loss 17 percent higher to $36.6bn, while insurers continue to request rate increases amid regulatory pushback, according to AM Best.
