The Hartford’s combined ratio flat despite higher cats and Covid-19 losses
The Hartford reported a 4 percent drop in third quarter core earnings to $527mn and delivered a P&C combined ratio of 95.7 percent that was only 20 basis points up on the prior-year period, despite cat losses that more than doubled to $229mn and $37mn of additional pandemic losses in the division.
